Our Holi vacation started on 23rd of March and we were eagerly waiting for this date. On 23rd of March we went to our respective villages. We were very happy and excited as we were given certain tasks by our respected Chairman sir to be performed at our respective villages. I could very well see the changes while going back to my home, i was very happy when oi reached my village. I was happy to see the joyful atmosphere in my village. I touched the feet of my elders and met my old friends and wished them a happy Holi. My family members were very glad to see me, and the villagers were also very happy. I saw certain changes in my village as the roads were being constructed by the government but at the same time trees were being cut on a large scale. On the occasion of Holi i visited all my neighbour’s houses and I played with colours. I enjoyed a lot with my family, friends and villagers.
I visited Bodhgaya with my school friends. We visited each and every temple of Lord Buddha. The temples were beautiful and we enjoyed a lot.
One day i visited another village and i asked the villagers to send their children to school. I asked them a question that why was our community categorized under Scheduled Caste. The reason according to me is lack of education, and also the parents in our community don’t take any initiative to provide their children with education, they don’t even send them to school.
I helped the girls and boys who came to me for any kind of help in their studies. I used to teach them every day in the evening. I saw that the girls were more excited to study than the boys. One girl asked me whether she could also study in my school. The I asked them to come to my school and ask our Chairman Sir, as I was sure that he could do something for them. The girls and boys were very hard working and were devoted towards studies.
I used to help my mother with her everyday cooking, both in the morning and evening. I also used to help her in cleaning my house. I used to broom my house and my street every day. I also helped my father in his field work. My father never allows me to do any kind of work but I do myself.
One thing that shocked me was that the people in my village were still practising child marriage and were also taking dowry from the bride’s family as child marriage any taking dowry is illegal. I told them that Child marriage is a very bad thing as it affects the health of the girls and boys badly. I thought that a girl who didn’t even knew how to cook, how she will manage such big responsibilities.
One of my cousins was getting married and my uncle had asked for dowry from the girl’s family. When I came to know about it I scolded them and warned them that I would complain about then in the police station. They didn’t take any kind of dowry after my warning. When the bride’s family came to know about me they wanted to meet me. Everyone was very happy.
My house glittered and looked very beautiful as it was decorated and painted for the ceremony.
